Saturday June 2nd - Emerald City Reptile Expo

As part of the Seattle Science Festival taking place at the Seattle Center the weekend of June 1st -3rd the Northwest Herpetological Society and the Bean Farm will host the Emerald City Reptile Expo inside of the Exhibition Hall. Past attractions of the expo have included python eggs hatching, “Gecko Hogwarts”, and 3-D “Name That Reptile” Game. Last year’s Expo boasted a “hold a tarantula” workshop for beginners, several demonstrations of feeding cockroaches to lizards, an alligator who could be petted, and Predator’s of the Heart’s owl singing along with “hoot let the dogs out?” This year guests will have the chance to enter the Outreach room where they can touch live reptiles and amphibians. The Outreach room also includes show-and-tells about the reptiles and set-ups of their natural habitats. There will also be two live animal shows on the Center grounds, one at 11:45am at the Fisher Plaza Stage and the next at 1:15pm at the Mural Amphitheatre Stage

Additionally the “Predators of the Heart” live shows will take place at 12:00pm, 2:00pm & 4:00pm in the Exhibition Hall. (It is not known exactly which animals will be making an appearance, but there will be at least one alligator!)

Kids will also be able to “guess Donatello’s weight”. Donatellos is a male sulcata tortoise who is the size of a lawnmower! A prize will be awarded to the child with the closest guess.
